Ohio Senate panel approves tougher penalties for gun crime repeats
The Senate Criminal Justice Committee approved a bill to heighten prison terms for repeat offenders convicted of violent crimes with a firearm and to bar violent career criminals from gun ownership. The measure may raise annual prison costs by 11 to 50 million dollars and follows a similar failed effort last session as Ohio addresses rising incarceration.
