Former Lorain officer not charged for 5 days
Retired Lorain police officer Fred Breeding II, 48, wrecked his 2015 Ford Fusion on North Main Street in Amherst last April 14 and left the scene. He was charged five days later with failure to control and leaving the scene, with the case filed in Oberlin Municipal Court.

Yaks Shak Expands Kayak Rentals in Lorain County
LoCo Yaks, a Berea based nonprofit, to operate mobile kayak rental trailer named LoCo Yaks Shak. Starting June, 15 kayaks will travel to Lakeside Landing Lorain, Century Park Lorain, and Sheffield Lake boat ramp. Turnpike Tie Up After Ohio Crash Near Baumhart Road
Traffic on the Ohio Turnpike eastbound backed up about five miles after a 11:50 a.m. crash in Brownhelm Township two miles east of Baumhart Road. A 2013 Ford F-250 driven by Cary Politoski struck a Peterbilt tractor-trailer carrying Terrence Wright. Politoski, 52, from Wisconsin, had minor injuries and was cited for following too closely. Wright, 52, from Virginia, was unhurt. One lane remained open during investigation. traffic diverted to Route 250. Flow resumed about 3:15 p.m.

Second Harvest Food Bank readies for its big move
Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio moves to a new Baumhart Road facility. The $5 million, 41,000-square-foot center will triple freezer capacity to about 205 pallets and support more than 70,000 people across Lorain, Erie, Huron and Crawford counties. Lorain man shot during home break in. victim in hospital
Evan Gooden reports a break in at Grant Street early Wednesday awakening William Fiske and Jimmie James. James was injured after a confrontation with the intruder who fled. James was treated for a stomach wound at Metro Health Medical Center. The shooter fled and remained at large Wednesday night.

Avon progresses on 186-foot water tower project
CB I crews from Texas advance concrete column work on the Avon water tower at Mills Road and Route 83. When finished in 2016 the 186-foot tank will hold 3 million gallons, quadrupling the prior 750000 gallon tower. Welds will be X-rayed and the tank disinfected before filling. A bid is planned for a 16 inch transmission line along Mills Road to feed the tower.
