Lorain bakery to close after 22 years of family work

In Lorain on Reid Avenue and West 8th Street Avanti's Bakery, run by Joe Sehulin and his father Joe Sr, will close today at 2 am after 22 years. The business faced losses from a prisoner catering contract and rising competition. Joe Jr. and Joe Sr plan to auction the shop on May 14 as they wind down catering jobs.

Gas prices rise three cents in Elyria survey

AAA weekly fuel survey shows Elyria area prices up three cents per gallon from last week with crude oil above four dollars a barrel driving the hike. Statewide average dips to 2.12 per gallon and national average near 2.22 as 45 stations in the area including Towaih, Union and Cuyahoga report small gains.
