On Texas on April 23 R. J. New set a new racing record of 107 hours while rivals struggled to keep pace. The event, lasting over several rest periods, saw contestants exhausted as the final laps commenced with a late 745 p.m. finish.

J Louis Taylor sues The Stewart Lord Co and American Rio Land Irrigation Co of Texas over a Weslaco land purchase. He paid $5,099 down on twenty acres touted as irrigated and fertile with easy clearing and high yields, but claims all statements were false to defraud him and seeks $14,000 damages.

Washington April 23 A searching inquiry into railroad efficiency and economy has begun under the Interstate Commerce Commission. Major systems are parties to the investigation with hearings and detailed questionnaires on labor conditions from the shopmen's strike, locomotive and rolling stock upkeep, and car service. The inquiry seeks to judge whether maintenance expenditures are reasonable and if railroad operations and car service are efficient and adequate.
