Firefighters Rehired as Elyria Uses Federal Grant

Elyria will reinstate fourteen laid off firefighters as it uses a federal Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant to fund salaries and benefits for 23 personnel over two years. Fire Chief Rich Benton says the move allows all three stations to reopen Sunday with shifts of 18 or more, restoring morale after a year of cuts.

Notre Dame Buckeyes Rivalry Escalates With Roof Message

Elyria neighbors Matt St Marie and Scott Payne renewed their college rivalry with a prank on Payne’s roof. Bank Purchases Holiday Inn at Elyria Auction

Elyria man found dead near Lorain park trail

A 36 year old Elyria man, Anthony Pinkerton, was found hanging from a pipe near a Lorain Metro Parks trail in Sheffield Township close to Day's Dam. The coroner rules it a death by own action and police were alerted after bystanders found the body around 7 pm near property owned by National Bronze and Metals.
