Food bank sues contractor over unfulfilled generator grant
Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio filed suit in Lorain County Common Pleas Court alleging fraud by a Columbus electrical contractor for promising a grant to fund a generator at its Nordson Food Distribution Center that never materialized. The center, a $5 million 41000 square foot facility, requires power for refrigeration to preserve 540,000 pounds of perishables and would need a large generator to handle outages. The suit says designer recommended W W Williams Co to secure the grant and notes Deborah Thompson claimed the generator could be provided at no cost once funding was secured and urged upgrading to power the entire building to strengthen grant appeal.
