Avon youth shines in national junior vegetable grower contest
Avon Norman Oebker son of Fred Oebker Avon High alum is featured in Cornell's agricultural marketing program tours of New York markets. He won the Central States championship in the N J V G A action marketing contest earning 200 dollars and a 500 dollar education fund prize. He netted 500 dollars from two acres of his father’s farm with diverse fruits and vegetables. He plans to return to Avon to help run the 75 acre farm after Cornell and majors in vegetable crops. Also noted is Charles S Brown’s 64th birthday bicycle ride, a daily habit for 75 years.
