Federal decision ends Lorain police excessive force probes
Federal prosecutors in Northern Ohio will not pursue charges against Lorain police officers in two excessive force investigations. The probe centered on a Sept. 4, 2014 arrest where Zachary Ferenec allegedly struck Pete Smith’s windshield, and a Nov. 15, 2015 incident where off duty officer Christopher Ferenzi allegedly struck a handcuffed suspect. A Lorain review found no excessive force in the former case and a 10 day suspension followed a suit over the latter incident.
