Art Gives Strength To Group With Mental Illness
In Elgin Illinois volunteers from the Awakenings Project bring pencils and paper to the Elgin Mental Health Center for a Sunday drawing session. Patients including Jeffrey Eppard 24 and Francis Chereck 29 sketch self portraits and symbolic images while therapists note art helps regain control and identity amidst bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
