Retired school worker sues over age bias in promotion
Caren Dean, a former Columbia Schools employee, sues Lorain County district alleging age discrimination after being passed over for a Title Tutor role. The suit claims Principal James Cottom made a younger-worker remark during the July 19 interview. Dean says Superintendent Graig Bansek did not remedy it and notes the district later hired a substantially younger person. Dean filed with EEOC, which issued a right to sue on January 14.
