The Southern Lorain County Historical Society asks Wellington Village Council for 500 from revenue sharing to repaint the Spirit of 76 Museum, last painted in 1976, with a low bid at 965. The volunteer staffed museum opens weekends April to October and holds over 5,000 artifacts.
The Lorain Medina Rural Electric Cooperative publishes its Rural Electrification Act history in Country Living May issue. It recalls early Ohio electricity access, the drive by farmers in Lorain and Medina counties, the 28 employees, 150 miles of line, and current reach across Wayne Ashland and Huron counties, with events planned including open house August 5 and Rural Electrification Week observances.
Wellington Village Council backs two Ohio General Assembly bills to create an Ohio Municipal Electric Authority. The move would clarify bond validation rules and allow municipalities to jointly finance generation or transmission at municipal bond rates. Mayor Roger Hyde notes current law requires individual bonds and limits cooperative action. Wellington is one of 83 municipally owned systems and belongs to AMP-Ohio.
