Community Welfare League Drives $120,000 Drive Start
The Community Welfare League held a benefit banquet on Friday evening April 17 with about 110 attendees at the W. C. A. dining room. Rev. E. Chappelle introduced Attorney Richard F. Stevens who received the Distinguished Service Award and spoke on the league’s purpose to advance Negro rights in Flyria. Pledges were taken for the 14,000 drive, totaling 120 dollars, as the meeting closed with the Negro National Anthems.

Circus At Y Is Great Success In Elyria YALCA
A two act program at the Elyria YALCA gymnasium featured Hiroadway YALCA performers from Cleveland and Elyria provided entertainment for the Bungling Brothers and Sorepaugh circus. Ted Cameron, state YALCA champion on parallel bars, performed and placed high in all around YALA. A 15 boy Indian dance group from Bradway YALCA led by Vernon Gottschalk presented rain, buffalo, eagle, and victory dances on a self built Indian stage. About 700 spectators attended the two night run, bringing total cus cus to 100 for the event, part of the annual YALCA gymnastics show.
