Authentic Colonial Williamsburg Tour Goes Too Far
A humorous tour narrative mocks visitors who adopt colonial life as authentic. guides describe rendering a pig and beating lard while insiders joke about modern comforts, danger, and the fragile romanticism of living as 18th century colonists. The piece lampoons overzealous restorations and the couple Bob and Babs Buffington who endure failed attempts at period homes.
