Committee Plans Report on Food Store Closings
A committee that met with downtown food merchants to discuss Wednesday afternoon closings says assurances were received in most cases and will confer with Isaly's Mansfield management to limit Wednesday sales to ice cream lunches and confections. The group called on managers including David Clawson H A Peabody Leonard Wycosky James Tittle and Willard Miller and said last Wednesday afternoon demonstrations were not committee authorized. They suspect a store clerk sent the clerk cards inviting clerks to Broad Street and West Avenue but deny store managers organized it. A meeting of all food store managers and clerks is planned for Monday evening to discuss and report.
