Reducing Fire Risk in Elyria Homes Through Detectors and Maintenance
Elyria officials warn residential fires caused by faulty heating units account for the city’s fire losses. The chief urges smoke detectors in every home and regular checks, with two per dwelling common. Experts advise furnace maintenance every two years, proper storage of combustibles, and routine chimney care to prevent creosote fires. Regular fire drills and clear escape plans complete the safety measures.
