County offers state funds for Murray Ridge health center
Lorain County will receive about 1.25 million dollars in state funds to expand the Murray Ridge Road facilities for the mentally ill and retarded. Martin A. Janis of the Ohio Department of Mental Hygiene and Correction announced at a Lorain County board dinner in Oberlin Inn that the state will match the county investment, enabling a day care center, workshop, four classrooms, and a residential center. Janis spoke after a pre dinner visit with Mrs. Lee Ignat and Andrew B. Cirbus, noting the rural setting and urging county commissioners to proceed.

Young hero trudges through snow to aid injured mother
Four year old Sean Schadler of Arvada saved his mother by walking four miles through five inch snow in boots on the wrong feet to summon help after their car skidded off a canyon road during a spring snowstorm. He reached a cabin where Denver Patrolman Joe Breuch assisted. The mother, Jeannie Schadler, was hospitalized with a chest wound and head injury.
