Banks File Friendly Suit To Break Old Contracts

Eight banks holding county depository contracts since October 1932 have filed a friendly suit to terminate those agreements and adopt new ones effective May 1. County officials expect the case to be uncontested. The banks contend the old contracts carried exorbitant interest rates, while the new deals offer lower returns.
