Raymond S. Pileski, 25, of 511 Lodi St., was named Class B fireman by Safety Service Director Michael J. Lotko. The appointment fills a position created when Robert Curtis and Ellis Meschke were promoted on April 1, boosting staff to 44. Pileski, a native Elyrian, graduate of Elyria High School 1946, formerly worked for New York Central Railroad. He took a civil service exam last August and will serve six months with a three month probation. Starting salary is 270 dollars monthly. Pileski is married with a four year old son, Thomas.

War prisoners offer blood donations in Indochina

William L. Wilson, 78, longtime motorman on the Cleveland Southwestern Electric Railway, died at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born September 23, 1875 in Washington County, Pa., he moved to Elyria 50 years ago and was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the Amalgamated Association of Street and Electric Railway Employes of America. Surviving: son Harold L. Wilson, Elyria High School teacher. two daughters Mrs. Stanley G. Flack of Lakewood and Evelyn F. Wilson. four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Wife Gertrude died in 1944. a brother preceded him. Funeral Friday at 3:30 p.m. from Harold Dicken Funeral Home, Rev. H. K. Finley officiating. burial in Brooksdale Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday.
