A high level source reports heavy damage to U S B 29 bombers in a major battle over northwest Korea. The Far East Air Forces crews attacked the Yalu River bridge route from Manchuria to Sinuiju, with limited fighter escort contributing to losses and damage.
Pfc. Donald Dumont 20 of 331 North Abbe road is hospitalized at Pusan Korea with serious injuries after his jeep was gunned by snipers causing an 85 foot embankment fall. This marks his fourth injury since Korea hostilities began. The report links broader air force concerns about Communist air activity and potential UN air campaigns, noting losses among B 29s and enemy fighters, while stating allied air power could counter air threats.

Lorain County Hospitals received 154 transfusions in March from the Lorain County Blood Bank. Elyria Memorial handled 42, St. Josephs Lorain 90, Allen 13, Amherst 8, Pleasant View 1. The bank called 34 volunteer donors and typed 40 in Elyria with 18 donors taken.

Tokyo reports United Nations troops advanced up to 12 miles in North Korea on a broad front after Chinese defenses near Kumhwa on the west central front crumbled under air, artillery, and infantry attacks. Red lines around Yanggu and near the Hwachon reservoir were breached with only a single section remaining along the front north of the 38th parallel.

Elyria Chapter of the American Red Cross plans an advanced first aid class starting Wednesday April 18 at 7 30 p m if enough people register. The course runs 18 hours plus later hours for atomic bomb first aid with a refresher option requiring nine hours plus atomic bomb training. Registrations must be in by Monday afternoon. if enrollment is insufficient the class will be canceled.
