Lorain probe links forged checks to suspected child porn
An investigation into forged checks led Lorain police to a Georgia apartment and a computer they suspect contains child pornography. Leslie Smith, 25, faces theft and forgery charges as officers review about 70 files found on the rented computer. Additional suspect Ronald Brown, 25, is charged with four forgery counts. The case ties Smith to eight counterfeit checks in September 2004, with ongoing probe into the pornography aspect.

Ohio Senate panel backs public breastfeeding bill
A Senate health committee approved a bill allowing nursing in public places, moving to a full Senate vote. Proponents include Deloras Keith and Rep. Merte Grace Kearns, with support from the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants and medical groups. The measure follows earlier failed efforts and contrasts with 1997 skepticism. The bill seeks to end discrimination after a Walmart case prompted policy changes. The issue gains momentum as Le Leche League notes similar bills nationwide.
