Legislation on turnpikes triggers floor vote clash

In Columbus a bill to give a legislative committee final say on turnpike routes and bonds faces a likely floor vote and possible Senate compromise. Eisenhower approves NATO data sharing on atomic weapons

President Eisenhower announced an agreement to share tactical atomic information with 13 NATO allies. The accord aims to develop joint defense plans and intelligence on atomic capabilities, strengthening free world defenses against Communist aggression. He called it a great step forward and said it will enhance U S and allied security while Congress authorized such exchanges in 1954.

Route decision power debated in Ohio turnpike plan

Dennis Murphy of Ohio Co. urges committee to allow route selection while insisting bonds need not be tied to final bid by lawmakers. Mrs McWilliams Wins Elyria District Mrs America Contest

Carolyn McWilliams of 205 Park Ave won the Elyria district Mrs America contest chosen from 11 homemakers representing local communities. She will advance to the state competition in Cleveland next week after a unanimous judges’ panel praise her both looks and cooking skills in a bake-off at Ohio Fuel Gas Co. venue.

Port Authority Bill Offered in Senate Subcommittee

Tornado Hits In Alabama Near Mobile

A small tornado touched down between Saraland and Celeste near Mobile Alabama uprooting trees but causing no injuries or major damage. Tornado warnings stretched across ten counties as a squall line moved east from Mississippi bringing high winds and flash floods in the Mobile area. The Foreign Office said the Constellation crash in the South China Sea was an unfortunate accident with no loss of life, while Hong Kong prepared for possible sabotage reports.

Two or Three Polio Shots Debate Delays Elyria Plan

Health officials in Lorain County await word from the State Health Department on whether first and second grade pupils will receive two or three Salk polio inoculations.
