17 year old Valery Lysikov who denounced communism fled West Berlin three weeks ago and returned to the Soviet side fearing reprisals against his parents. He entered a Soviet sedan with his mother and Russian Air Force colonel father then talked with American officials about a possible recantation. He later expressed anti American views but wore new clothes on reentry and reunited with his family in Berlin. The U.S. High Commission in Bonn announced Lysikov’s return and Molotov pressed for his transfer to his father’s unit. The State Department said it would consider the Russian demand.
