Revealing Story From Newbold Morris On Washington
Newbold Morris of New York City was sworn in as special assistant U S Attorney General on February 1 to tackle Washington corruption. After two months in office he was fired by Attorney General J Howard McGrath, who was then dismissed by President Truman three hours later. Morris gives an exclusive interview in What I learned in Washington, detailing political double talk, broken promises, and leaderless government. He says investigations are blocked by Cabinet members and notes FBI files lack subpoena power. He predicts ongoing fallout as McGranery and Hoover cannot act alone.
