Jailers pirated films and music at Lorain Institution
An Inspector General report finds 16 state prison employees at Lorain Correctional Institution copied copyrighted audio music files to personal folders on the agency network. Officer Edwin Diaz admitted downloading about 550 files, saying he did not know it was illegal. Several colleagues claimed no awareness of copyright protections due to easy access and lack of server restrictions. Criminal charges appear unlikely without financial gain. The music is licensed to inmates via iPay Inc., a state vendor.
