Meet Tonight To Organize For Seal Sale
Representatives of Elyria women’s organizations will gather at the Lorain County Savings and Trust Building at 7 p m tonight to plan a city wide drive for crippled children seals. Mrs. D A Baird will chair the local campaign to support the national drive of the International Society for Crippled Children. Proceeds fund a warm water orthopedic pool at Gates Hospital. About 1859 was raised on President Roosevelt’s birthday. $1509 more is in sight from FE Allen’s efforts. The pool, 13 by 21 feet, will aid infantile paralysis treatment by water immersion reducing weight. Over $2000 more is needed to reach the $5,000 goal. Continued on page 2.

Plans Ordered For Widening Of Route 20
The state highway department plans to widen Route 20 from Duck Pond road to Oberlin to thirty feet and resurface it as part of the spring program. Resident state highway engineer A. P. Lagton reports the project would cost about 150 000 dollars and extend roughly 3.5 miles. Four Hundred Children Safe In School Fire

Efforts to strike gas on the Harshaw Chemical Company property yielded what drillers called a dry hole. The drilling raised interest among residents and industries, but the Harshaw well proved to be a good producer with about 50 000 cubic feet of open flow daily. Price said he did not know if they would shoot the well to boost output.
