Ohioans to get federal aid for high utility bills

Ohio Senate OKs vote signup at polls

The Ohio Senate approved a Democratic backed election reform bill 21 to 12, sending it to the House. It includes election day registration and new ways to sign up, including at polls or by mail, with voting required every two years. Governor Rhodes previously vetoed a similar measure.

Cleveland Hopkins opens new South Terminal section

A blue and gold carpet spans the new South Terminal ticket counter area at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. The expanded section handles about 60 percent of passengers and marks the first part of a long range plan. The North Terminal project remains in the works for 1978 opening.

Inflation surge sparks fears of higher prices in March

Wholesale prices jumped 1.1 percent in March the steepest monthly rise in over a year driven by coffee and food costs. The Labor Department data show farm and processed foods leading the gain with industrial commodities also rising, signaling higher consumer costs ahead. Major roasters raised coffee prices after Brazil's hikes, while the index places overall inflation near its worst levels since 1941.

Kerons Involved In Unplanned Collision On Grace Avenue

In Sheffield Township a crash on Grace Avenue involved the Kerons driving separate cars. The younger Keron, 26, of 41070 Rosewood Dr., was slightly injured when his northbound car slipped on icy pavement and collided with his exider's vehicle. No charges were filed.

Four Lorain area Sohio stations to become 7 11 stores

Southland Corp plans to convert four Sohio sites in Elyria and Lorain into 7 11 outlets as first in Lorain County with more stores planned across western Cuyahoga and Lorain. Demolition dates uncertain. June start anticipated for construction on some of the 113 acquisitions nationwide.
