Two Girls Injured After Auto Strikes Them on Lake and Oak
Violet Woconish and her sister Joanne, both of Elyria, were struck by a car driven by Vernon Rumley while crossing Lake avenue at Oak street. Violet suffered a scalp laceration and injuries to her right leg and hip. Joanne had a cut on her left leg. Both were taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital. A second incident saw Theodore Penfound injured riding a bicycle on Second street near East avenue, with an abrasion on his right leg and possible rib or ankle injuries. He was treated at the hospital.

Pfc. Nicholas Sedar, 20, of Elyria, will be sent back from Europe for burial. He fell in the Battle of the Bulge on December 13, 1944, while serving with the 28th Infantry, First Army under General Hodges. Survivors include his mother, Stella Hewitt. father, Michael Sedar. brothers John Sedar and James Hewitt. sisters Harriet, Shirley, and Charlotte Hewitt. and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stantion. Funeral services are set for Saturday, April 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Sudro Curtis Funeral Home. American Legion to oversee rites at Brave in Soldiers’ Plot, Brookdale Cemetery.
