Elyria teachers receive a 25 percent raise effective next fall raising total salaries from 135000 to 168000. The plan sets minimums of 1000 for new teachers and 1200 for those with a AB degree, with various raises by grade and special teacher rules.

Lorain Council Votes to Oust Councilman Hyman

The Lorain city council voted four to three to remove Councilman Chas Hyman for holding the job of Common Pleas court bailiff under Judge Thompson, a dual post forbidden by law. Hyman, a Republican, did not vote and says he will stay until courts decide.

Toledo Street Carmen Hire Ends As Judge Orders Service Restored

Toledo April 6 Federal Judge Killiis ordered Toledo Rail and Light Co. to restore street car service by Thursday morning or a receiver will be appointed. Service had been halted for days. Judge Willits set fares at 7 cents with 2 cents for transfers. The company signed the wage scale as decision was read and the union accepted it.

Fire destroys Brown family home on Pine Street

A fire at 110 Pine Street last night nearly leveled a double house, causing about 2500 dollars in damage. Occupants Clarence and Ottie Brown escaped with little of their furnishings as neighbors gave aid. The origin is undetermined and flames threatened the adjacent residence until the department arrived.

County Interchurch Meet Scheduled At First Congregational Elyria
