Indians stock to go public in May bid

The Cleveland Indians plan to offer more than 4 million Class A common shares to the public for 14 to 16 dollars each as early as May. Public shareholders would own 51 percent of the team and the management company that runs Jacobs Field, with owner Richard Jacobs holding 49 percent and majority voting control. Jacobs would chair and run the Cleveland Indians Baseball Co, netting him over 50 million dollars. It remains unclear if he will bid for the new Cleveland Browns expansion.

Eight more accuse man of rape in Lorain case

Lorain police say eight additional potential victims, all boys aged between 4 and 14, have contacted investigators after reports that 62-year-old Robert Eichelberger assaulted two boys in 1987 and 1994. He faces 36 charges including 22 counts of rape and a $500,000 bond.

Cleveland area adds 440 code 11 digit dialing begins

Suburban residents in the Cleveland area must dial 11 digits to reach downtown offices and nearby numbers as the 440 area code fully goes into effect. The new code surrounds the 216 area and stretches from Vermilion to the state line. callers outside the region must dial 1 and 440. Rates for local calls stay the same. Emergency and information numbers remain unchanged.

Arson ruled in Oberlin house fire deaths

A Morgan Street fire that killed a 12 year old girl and her grandmother was ruled incendiary by Oberlin Fire Chief Dennis Kirin after excluding other causes. Police Chief Robert Jones said no arrest has been made and the incident will be treated as a crime.
