One Cast Wins Fontana Bass Title At Fontana Village

Bud Birchfield of Knoxville Tennessee won the Fontana Village bass tournament at Fontana Dam North Carolina on the second day with a 3 pound 12 ounce smallmouth weighing the decisive catch. His total 19 pounds 13 ounces earned him 1000 dollars and first place while other Ohio anglers failed to break the money list. Birchfield credited the single cast philosophy that carried him from second place to victory as the wind and water churned in Fontana Lake.
