Firelands sophomore Cole Lewis dominated the 100-meter high hurdles Thursday at Firelands High School as part of the Nelson Howe Invitational. The event showcased local back and field talents competing across divisions.
Firelands High School hosts the 30th Nelson Howe Track and Field Invitational with a balanced Falcons effort ending North Ridgeville's three-year win streak. Colin Myers placed second in the 200 meters and the 1 600 relay won the final event to seal a 122-97 team victory over North Ridgeville. Keystone took third with 86 points. In the girls meet Olmsted Falls won seven events to beat Keystone 110-100, while North Ridgeville edged Firelands 98-97 for third.
Cleveland optioned Jesus Aguilar to Triple A Columbus and informed Michael Martinez he did not make the roster. Nick Swisher will miss Opening Day but travel with the team to Houston. Reliever Austin Adams earned a spot as eighth reliever but may be optioned to Columbus when Swisher is ready.
