Herman Ray a 30 year old of 167 Wood Street was bound to the grand jury by Justice C C Lord on $1000 bond after arraignment on a charge of obtaining 178 dollars in relief from the Lorain county welfare department by false representation. A warrant charges him with receiving relief from Jan 7 to March 1 claiming a wife and two daughters in Elyrian while three daughters were in Kansas City and no wife or daughters here. Ray pleaded innocent. Bruce Alexander humane society attorney said Ray had also drawn unemployment compensation while on relief. The charge carries a possible one to three year penitentiary term if convicted.

Lawrence Hartman age 25 on probation for non support from May 8 1947 was arraigned for probation violation after leaving the state. he received an indeterminate term in Mansfield Reformatory.
