Canton School Levy Does Not Tie To Reappraised Valuation
Canton City School District renewal of a 7.5 mill levy will be based on current real estate value, not Stark County reappraisal figures. If reappraisal raises valuations, the levy rate must drop to keep the same income, per Ohio Bureau guidance citing a 1946 attorney general opinion. The present district valuation is about 221.7 million dollars, expected to rise 15 percent with reappraisal.
