A band of six men from New York and New Jersey fled a stolen 1949 convertible after a crash near East Canton. Deputies led by Sheriff Grossglau s pursued through fields to the Smith farm, where all six were captured with hands raised. Two arrestees are parole violators, and federal charges for transporting a stolen car across state lines are pending. One more suspect was apprehended early this morning in a separate car theft case.

Brother seeks $140,000 from estate of Harry Ryan
Frank T. Ryan, brother of the late Harry R Ryan, filed suit in Common Pleas Court to recover 140000 from the estate of Harry Ryan. He alleges a 142000 gift to him before Harrys death in February 1947, with 140000 remaining with the administrator James Seccombe after a prior dispute. The estate was valued around 200000. Relatives recently failed to remove Seccombe and the case appeals to the Fifth District Court of Appeals.

Union Arbitrate Offer Aimed at Ford Speedup Dispute
DETROIT May 24 AP The United Auto Workers offered to arbitrate the real issue of Ford speedup. The union said if minor points are settled the 106000 workers idled by the strike would end. Ford did not comment pending receipt of the proposal signed by Walter Reuther. The five page document asks an arbitrator to decide if the company can require work above 100 percent of standards and require workers to make up losses beyond their control. The dispute centers on line speed, production standards, and manpower practices.

Paris May 24 AP The Big Four foreign ministers council opened talks on Germany’s future with Russia outwardly cooperative. Vishinsky spoke smoothly at the opening session in a pink marble palace, agreeing to a western agenda and saying he would consent to proposals even if not fully convinced. Britain’s Bevin pressed for agreements on Germany before tackling Austria. Vishinsky smilingly affirmed readiness to discuss all questions.
