The Columbiana County chapter of the Reserve Officers Association earned a plaque as the best national security program among Ohio chapters with under 100 members. Maj. John A. Paul of East Liverpool and Lt. Col. John B. Arter of Salem accepted the honor at the state ROA convention in Columbus.

Former Orrville draftee to appeal lawsuit for 10000
George W. Dodez, a Wooster resident and Jehovah's Witness, planned a Supreme Court appeal after losing a $10,000 suit against Orrville Draft Board No. 2. He was initially classified 1-A in 1942, then rated a conscientious objector by an Akron appeals board, refused a special camp, and was sentenced to five years. The Supreme Court later reversed the decision.

Washington May 4 The 39 displaced persons are slated to reach Boston Thursday en route to new lives in Ohio. They travel aboard the U S Army transport Marine Jumper as part of a larger 846 displaced persons arriving in Boston for resettlement.
