Georgia Fires 13 Doctors at State Hospital
Thirteen of the 15 doctors at Georgia’s large mental hospital were fired yesterday after resignations were rejected by Welfare Director Jack Forrester who pledged to bring in 13 new physicians. The move followed a months long dispute over leadership at the Milledgeville facility, with eviction threats and a political clash between state officials and the hospital staff. Two aging doctors remained, both in fragile health.
