Pure Uranium Is Impounded
A U S military court in Frankfurt ruled that pure uranium is not war material and may be possessed by anyone. Judge Fred J. Cohn freed nine Germans who tried to sell a two inch cube of 99 plus percent pure uranium for 3 million dollars, but impounded the cube to decide ownership between the U.S. government and others. Housing bill faces setback as rules committee stalls
Washington June 8 AP Democratic leaders remain hopeful to pass Truman housing plan. The House rules committee, led by a Republican-Southern coalition, refused to clear the bill for immediate action. The Budget Bureau estimated subsidies at about 9 to 10 billion dollars, far short of the 16 billion over 40 years. The House showdown looms as opposition hardens.
