Washington June 4 AP The House un American activities committee will open its first major case on industrial espionage next week centered on alleged Russian efforts to obtain Bell Aircraft wartime secrets at the Buffalo Bell plant The panel subpoenaed three witnesses from Niagara Falls and Buffalo for hearings starting Monday The witnesses Mrs Joseph Franey librarian at Bell her husband an employee of Hooker Electro Chemical Co and Loren Haas a former Bell and Westinghouse Electric employee now with a research firm fed the Russian phony data and were paid in cash The committee plans to reveal how the Russian operated and what he sought including jet aircraft information the Bills serial numbers and other details The Russian official is reported to be in Moscow The committee described the three witnesses as loyal Americans
