Assault on Ward County teacher prompts manhunt
A nurse teacher was dragged from a carriage and beaten by a tramp five miles from Plaza North Dakota. A large posse including Plaza marshal, Minot sheriff and U S commissioner searches hills between Plaza and Berthold. Citizen fear lynching if the suspect is caught. The description notes a thirty year old man about five ten, 160 pounds, reddish hair and a missing front tooth.

Three informations allege embezzlement totaling 60 438 11 25 000 and false entries 15 220 55. Defendants demurrers and motions were overruled and Bickford pleaded not guilty. Trial date not set.
