Mrs Oscar Newman Dies After Short Illness
Mrs Oscar Newman of a farm three miles northeast of town died Tuesday at nine after an eight day illness that began with a cold and developed pneumonia. Born November 27, 1869 in Illinois, she married Oscar Newman March 2, 1889. Survived by husband five children Mamie 17 Birdie 15 Gladys 11 Wilfred 9 Hazel 12 and four brothers Chas Davis Bowbells and Ervin George and Dr Ivis and sister-in-law Mrs Geo Davis. Funeral Wednesday at two at the Newman home with Rev D Samson officiating. Bowbells choir led singing. Interment Bowbells cemetery east of town.

Rev Dr Waaler led the gathering and delivered the charge in Dr McEwen’s absence, urging prayer, respect, and sustained church work. A united choir led song and the benediction closed the ceremony.

No Locusts in Minnesota This Year Says Entomologist
St Paul May 29 The state entomologist Professor Washburn reports there will be no 17 year locusts in Minnesota this year. The cicada mistaken for locusts will invade the Southern Mississippi valley this year and reach Wisconsin two years hence but not Minnesota. The insects are cicadas growing in one season.
