Clerk Arrested In $1000 Registered Mail Theft
Paul Engel, a railway mail clerk on train 105 6 Enderlin to Portal, was arrested for stealing a registered package containing $1000. He confessed after two days of interrogation and returned the full amount to federal authorities. The case centers on misbilling of registers and improper handling on the Bismarck line.

Double Wedding at St Josephs Church In This City
A double ceremony was held at St Josephs Church yesterday at eight in the morning. Edward Devereux of Columbus wed Frances E Madden and Thomas Madden Jr of Bowbells wed Eileen Murphy of Adams Minnesota. Rev O Sullivan officiated. The couples drove to the church in an auto and returned in the same conveyance. A formal wedding breakfast followed hosted by Mrs Madden for close friends and relatives. Afterward the couples departed on train No 166 toward Minot and other points before starting housekeeping. Devereux has lived in Burke county two years after moving from Minot where he spent eight years. he is well known in Bowbells and regarded as a good businessman. His bride, Madden, is a Bowbells girl with prior residence in the area.

Johnsons Charged With Assault and Battery Near Woburn
N J Johnson and H J Johnson were arrested on a charge of assault and battery by Jim McCarney of near Lignite after a telephone meeting at Woburn Last Week. McCarney said a long-standing feud led to a quarrel and scuffle. McCarney suffered only minor scratches. The case was heard by Justice Blenk.

Old Settlers Picnic Draws Masses in Flaxton Event
The Flaxton Old Settlers Picnic drew crowds from all directions with a grand parade, fire department exhibition, and a $50 purse ball game between Columbus and Lignite. Bowbells beat Columbus 10 to 4 in the evening, and Paul Engel, a Soo mail clerk, paid a $200 fine after restitution for stealing a $1,000 registered package.
Minot Visitors Focus Of Bowbells Club Meeting
A special Commercial Club session in Bowbells organized by President Donovan arranged an informal lunch for Minot business men on June 23 after races. Committees were named to host the guests and recruit station wagons to escort them from Kenmare to Bowbells.
