Man freeze survives 24 hours in straw stack near Mondak
Knute Bakke a 38 year old bachelor from Epping North Dakota wandered into the North Dakota North Dakota border region after heavy drinking. He sought shelter in a straw stack to escape cold and remained exposed for 24 hours. Found by a deputy sheriff he was nearly frozen and transported to Mondak then Williston for medical care. Physicians hope for life though lasting injuries are likely. A separate classified note advertises two row barley and home grown timothy seed from J J Siverling of Flaxton North Dakota.

Miner Dies in Avoca Bruegger Coal Mine Accident
William P F Hall, about 35, a miner at the Bruegger coal mine in Avoca near Williston North Dakota, was crushed between a moving coal car and the mine wall while driving a mule out of the mine. He died instantly from multiple rib injuries. Hall, a married father of two, had recently moved from Ashton South Dakota and his body was brought to Williston for burial. His father planned to arrive today to take charge of the remains.
