In Rawson a woman identified as Ja. P. H. McCormick was injured when an auto backing down a hill failed to brake. She attempted to jump from the moving car and became wedged against a barbed wire fence, suffering deep lac erations. A physician treated her wounds after the party returned to town.
Stanley and Mountrall officials seek J Golutein a clothing clerk accused of taking 250 dollars from his employer while the owner was away from the city No trace has been found to date in Stanley North Dakota on August 10.
Victor Brausch aged 30 shot his wife Col J G Stauffacher and then killed himself in a farmhouse rampage near Breele North Dakota. He wounded two others and fired at a baby, later dying in Kidder County hospital. Brausch had quarrelled with his wife who lived with the Stauffachers. He wandered the road firing as he spoke of wiping out the outfit.

Husky citizens gathered at the depot to greet arriving trainers. Transients blocked switching at Oakes, forcing the freight crew to cede control and stop the train for their own amusement. Crowds later dispersed, appearing orderly by afternoon along the riverfront.
Ben McEvers, now with Marshall-Wells Hardware Co of Duluth, spent Friday and Saturday in the city last week to look after his firm's interests and visit friends.
Iver Johnson a farm hand in Center township Nelson county drowned while swimming after a picnic. He vanished after a long swim near the Stromdahl farm northwest of McVille. His body was found after some time. He recently bought a $2000 life policy for his mother in Norway. This follows another Nelson county drowning last week near Petersburg in a pond on H. H. Falstenson’s farm, Republican nominee for treasurer.
Jamestown North Dakota August 3 jury awarded Jam es S Palmer 162 for injuries claimed in a fight. Palmer sued John Neva and Henry Cysewski with Neva named for incitement while Cysewski was the actual combatant.
Lakota North Dakota August 3 George Johnson 21 years old drowned in a small pond near the city while swimming after a vigorous baseball game. He became overheated and took cramps before the drowning occurred.
James Fisher nearly died after taking a dose of hydrochloric acid. Visitors found him, and a stomach pump saved his life. He’s recovering in Grand Forks hospital. H L Greaves of Bondbells Telephone Co reports a record year for lightning damage to lines, with many outages this season and crews kept busy repairing the lines.
Three escapees from the Bismarck penitentiary remain uncaptured near a cave southwest of Lark on the Mott line. Parole officer W H Neavels and Mack McGee are seen in trail reports July 24 25 while two children who found them near the hill identified Neavels. Trails to cows and garden beds suggest continued hidden movements.

In Monango North Dakota on August 10 a mother and her two year old daughter Jesse Tougott were exposed to an intense electrical storm. The mother was stunned by a bolt of lightning that killed the horse she was driving. A neighbor found them twelve hours later. The baby lay beside the mother drenched in rain and mud. Both mother and child survived and are recovering.
In Minot North Dakota Aug 10 a Ford bear looping over the Great Northern track west of town caused a wreck injuring John Beckman and a driver. Beckman and three companions were riding home from Burlington when the car rose on the grade jumped into the air and turned a complete somersault before crashing down on the wheels.
John Beckman proprietor of the Calumet cafe in the Flatiron building was cut about the face with a deep gash near the eye, while the driver was bruised but expected to recover. The assailant was observed moving north after being seen several yards south.
George Heit, 18, of Underwoon, died in Bismarck hospital after a pole broke while unloading hay into an elevator. Heit suffered internal injuries and died about 30 minutes after admission. He was the son of Joby Reitman, a well known local farmer.
The Burke County Fair will be held at Flaxton on August 15 and 16 with J. H. Sheppard of the State Agricultural College delivering an address on farm husbandry and livestock. Premiums are liberal, officials urge entries, and the public is invited to attend to support county farmers.
Frank Fleming a Ward county farmer from St. Marys township died at Kenmare hospital from injuries suffered in a Thursday afternoon binder runaway in a field. He moved to Ward County in 1902, built property near Foxholm. survived by wife Henrietta Funk, eight children, nine stepchildren. Funeral at St Marys Church Foxholm scheduled for tomorrow afternoon with many local friends expected to attend.
The Ladies Aid of the Evangelical church northeast of Bowbells hosts an ice cream social on Saturday night August 12 at Ford Redmer’s farm home, a quarter mile west of the church. They promise ample ice cream and cake of good quality and invite the general public to attend for fellowship and to support a good cause.
Anamoose North Dakota August 10. Matt Wright and his family were struck by a severe storm while in a cook car on their farm. The car overturned killing Matt Wright instantly. His mother was nearly killed and his young daughter had her foot severed and several ribs broken. The storm caused extensive damage to buildings crops and injuries were reported nearby.
The record of the office of County Superintendent shows average pay for men teachers at 8.06 dollars, women teachers at 5.727 dollars, and a combined average of 6.118 dollars. Rural teachers averaged 141.41 dollars, with monthly pupil tuition at 4.05 dollars and overall monthly pupil cost at 5.14 dollars.

Burke County men Will and Reinholdt Kundiger returned from Montana where they inspected homestead land about 50 miles north of Malta and filed squatter debits on half sections. John Peterson joined them. Reinholdt said the land was surveyed a year ago and open to filing soon, with at least ten squatters from Flaxton to Woburn. They secured promising tracts and plan a late fall relocation.
A local notice states that all Burke County officers own automobiles, with States Attorney Hanson remaining without one. The report notes some officers possess only basic Fords, yet all have autos.
