Minot Normal School Site Debate Ends in Ultimatum

Minot, N D Aug 2 The board of control warns citizens that unless a site for the new normal school is agreed by next Tuesday the building goes by default. Three sites—South Hill Valley Street and North Side—remain tied after continuous balloting and failed negotiations. President Halvorson backs South Hill. Greene favors Valley. Carr champions Ramstad site.

Minot to Host Aviator Event in August

The Commercial Club of Minot has booked Curtiss aviator Lucky Bob St. Henry for a two day aircraft exhibition on August 14 and 15. The event coincides with the Fort Berthold Reservation homestead drawing registration and aims to draw up to ten thousand visitors. Major rail lines advertise Minot to lure registrants as the city welcomes a likely record crowd.

Bowbells Examinations For Teachers In August 1911

The Bowbells area schedules teacher examinations August 10 and 11 in the high school building. All teachers without certificates are urged to take exams, with an added nature study and agriculture section. C. H. Richardson and wife return from North Dakota fair

H L Richardson and wife returned from Grand Forks where they spent the North Dakota state fair. His horse Dr T is in Hamline Minnesota after shipping from Grand Forks last Saturday. Dr T will race in De Kalb Illinois next week absent Fargo accident.

Widowed mother drives long trek to Portal with four orphans

A widowed mother and her four fatherless children traveled from Oklahoma to Portal in a two person buggy. They endured shoe-less horses and near famine after an automobile crash near Carrington and begging in Minot before reaching Kenmare seeking aid and a promised home with her sister in Portal. The eldest child is nine and the youngest about two.

Two Italian Section Men Badly Bruised In Accident

Two Italian section men narrowly escaped death near Bowbells as a gasoline car weighing about 3500 pounds stopped abruptly on the track. One man suffered a broken leg and an embedded spike wound. the other broke his nose and suffered internal injuries. Dr. Limburg says recovery will take months and workers cannot return yet. Geo H. Phelps returned to Bowbells after a week in Minneapolis.
