Gas Strike Found Near Bottineau on McIntosh Farm
Drillers struck gas at 185 feet Wednesday on the McIntosh and Cathro farm five and a half miles southwest of Bottineau. The light flame rose from the tubing as gas evidently broke through overnight. The well, located near Section 31, Township 162, Range 76, is near the Parker well south of Westhope where Great Northern Oil and Gas is prospecting, likely in the same field.

Omemee Herald reports farmer Jos Lescault, six miles northeast of Omemee, found strong traces of petroleum in his well six weeks ago and has since yielded evidence of oil. Locals recall earlier gas and oil finds nearby, and it is believed wells in the mountain vicinity may become paying properties.
