Judge and Mrs H D Meese continue to receive letters from their son Joe with Pershing's expedition in France. A recently received note reports Joe is well and in good spirits despite censorship. The family plans to have Joe's name added to the newspaper's regular mail list if permitted by the government.
The Forgan Chautauqua begins Friday afternoon with a Metropolitan trio entertainment and a lecture by Dr. Fitzpatrick. Dr. Nusbaum returns from Beaver for a Sunday sermon lecture and a major address Sunday night. His previous Beaver appearance drew strong approval. The program also features lectures, quartets, orchestra and drama with broad community support urged.

News also notes the marriage of Miss Lucile Hodge to Howren Hall in Pueblo Colorado on September 1 8 their plans to reside near Montrose and continue work at the Montrose garage.
Beaver residents mourn the death of James Gresham of Gate. He died last week at his brother John Gresham’s home in Iowa after a period of ill health. A respected early settler, he helped shape the county during the wild days, earning wide respect for his integrity and honor.
John L. Just of Gray gives 25 dollars to the Red Cross to aid the boys at the front. The check, left with Judge R H Loofbourrow, funds hospital garments or surgical dressings for wounded soldiers.
The Beaver county fair at the courthouse on Saturday September 16 awarded top honors across Grain Sorghum Pig Poultry Better Bread and Ath clubs. Winners include Willie Savoy J B Woods Hazel Greendyke Martha Noble Burl Gregory and more with first prize trips to the Fair and companions planned by local residents Elkwood Elmwood Grey families also slated to attend.
The Beaver County Red Cross chapter hosted a weeklong training led by Mrs. F D Hammers from Wichita Kansas. Members learned surgical dressings bandages and hospital garments while expanding activities statewide. The remodeled G A building served as a central hub with high attendance and calls to keep the work room open daily to aid war relief and support home safety.
