Desertion Trouble Corrected on Gates Man

Elmer Mount of Gate was reported as not having preempted into military service after being drafted. He later wired the county board seeking permission to join the party at Gate. The correction notes the initial deserter claim was in error and the issue is treated seriously.

Red Cross Donation From Lakemp Charms Local Help

The Lake Kemp Red Cross chapter received 9.50 from Misses Alice Ray and Elva Tener, raised by popular subscription among locals. The funds will support the boys at the front, as the chapter thanks the three young women for their liberal contribution. Oscar Lile, son of Mrs. Dore Lile of Kokomo, enlisted in the U S Army after visiting Liberal Kansas events, answering the call to service and not returning home.

Beaver County's Big Patriotic Reception For Soldier Boys

Beaver Wednesday September 5 saw an enormous crowd from 6000 to 10000 gather, with about 2000 cars, for a public reception welcoming Beaver County soldiers heading to the National Army. A noon barbecue, band music, patriotic speeches, and Red Cross efforts marked the day, which raised 296.80 for Red Cross, while praising the community’s prosperity and unity amid national service.

Mother Hanson Dies After Long Life in Beaver

Beavers mourn the death of “Mother’’ Hanson who passed away peacefully after a long illness. She lived to a ripe old age and was beloved by her two sons Harry and Ed who cared for her. funeral services were held at the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. W. B. Leonard with pallbearers W. T. Quine Art Quine W. H. Thoms Art Thomas Jes H. Crabtree and H. D. Peskham.
