Little Viola Adams residing with her grandparents in the Stranathan building fell from the outside stair landing to the ground Tuesday afternoon. W G Stranathan witnessed the fall, carried her to Long's, where she quickly revived and showed no injuries, though the fall could have been serious.
Beaver citizens and neighbors met in Laverne to plan early marking and logging of a new southeast highway from Bahoma City to the northwest via Woodward Lame Clear Lake and Beaver. R M Risley of Elmwood, recently ill, left for a Guthrie sanitarium with son Ross Risley. he may stay for treatment. The Mothers Club will host an informal reception for Beaver school faculty on Friday September 16 at 7 o'clock P M at the hall. all patrons are invited.
Mrs. Geo Wright hosts a birthday surprise with her Sunday school class and friends at her home. Guests share ramen, music, cake, ice cream, and sherbet in a friendly gathering last Monday night.
In Stevens County Kansas Frank Miller faced a murder charge but it was dismissed. He stood trial by jury as an accessory and was found not guilty.
A church social honoring Beaver High School students was held last Thursday night at the Methodist Church with about fifty youths in attendance. The event took place on the lawn and was described as a good time. Mrs. Mary B. Hanly, Bellview southwest of Forgan, visited Beaver residents on Sunday.
Beaver county officials led by Sheriff Bridgewater and County Attorney Gardner, with Rock Island Detective Rexeau, secured arrests and confessions for the Ellis capture and related murders. Ellis faces potential maximum punishment in Kansas, possibly the electric chair, with age not shielding him if he could understand right from wrong. Mrs A H Busing of Beaver County Kansas died Sunday September 11 in Meade Kansas. She was a pioneer resident who ran the Chmaron river ranch half way stop for travelers and a post office. known for hospitality and generosity. The Herald extends sympathy to her family.
The Mothers' Club held a grade school auditorium meeting last Friday with strong attendance. Officers outlined plans for the year, including a faculty reception at K P Hall and committees for general arrangements and flower duties.
Workmen load materials and carpenters assemble the Sale Pavilion at the fair grounds. The 60x100 foot structure grows rapidly and should be ready for fair time. W E Jordan of Elwood praises progress and county interest, with Beaver County Fair expectations rising. Gorman’s Style Shop advertises in The Herald.
A Shuler from Blue Valley Farm near Gray reports satisfactory results and plans to attend the County Fair. He will exhibit a finest breed of Super Type Polande and perform at another venue during the summer.
Mrs Robt West and Mrs Aly Wright take Keith West to Liberal for surgery to remove diseased tonsils and adenoids and lance eight sores on a foot. Keith sick after operation. Mrs George Wright marked a birthday surprise with friends and cake. Rain improves pasture. farmers report better ground and modal rent conditions. Dr L L Long travels to Fowler Texas midweek.
J A McWilliams of Kemp led Beaver County purebred hog sales with an average of 249.00 for bred sows and gilts and a total of 7842.00. A sow bought by Mart Turkey of Elmwood brought 1026.00, another sow and three of her litter sold for 2000.00, and offspring of a sow brought 3440.00, signaling Beaver County as a leading purebred hog area.
The sheriff’s men were busy this past week bringing in a til with Fifty of mush from southwest of Bemver. The stil was remin itedf as the owner was afraid when the makins were taken. The owner Mrs Fatine Ford, who teaches at Morane, returned home every Sunday.
