County prints bid approved for official paper status

The County Commissioners awarded the official printing contract to The Healno Editor of Taw Henao as the lowest bid. The Knowles Farmers News failed to provide required samples. The paper is designated as the official county organ to publish legal notices. Local readers urged continued support for the chosen paper.

Beaver locals note editor L. B. Tooker of Forgan spent Tuesday in town while J. W. Steffen from LaKemp arrived for a short stay. Roy Brown visits from Lockwood and returns home, F. C. Tracy travels to Chicago this week for the B. M. & B. Railway project.

Attorney A S Dickson transferred professional business at Buffalo at the week’s start.

Local notes on illness and arrivals in Beaver area

Drummond remains indisposed though improved since last week. Lola Beaguamp of Mountain Grove arrives in Beaver to take a job at Braidwood's abstract office. Vinita Barnes returns to school after a week’s absence due to pneumonia. County Superintendent John B. Swaim spent part of the week on official business in the county.

Beaver County Commissioners Session Adopts Agenda

The Board of County Commissioners met in March to handle a large slate of business and will publish full proceedings next week. Visitor B C Renfrew of Woodward stayed in town for several days and praised Beaver County’s outlook as the session concluded. Two McPherson daughters from Red Rock visited grandparents J K Hinkle and will reside Monday.

Reverend Shaw Returns From Gate Evangelistic Meetings

Rev L L Shaw returned Monday from Gate where he conducted two weeks of meetings and reports a very successful series. The organ church and Bill A Aaron and wife of Floris visited Mr and Mrs R McPat Wednesday. Mrs Aaron has not walked without crutches since a mithic syphoid fever two years ago and will try chiropractic treatment in Beaver next week.

County Woman In Critical Condition After Illness

Mary Seaver is seriously ill with pneumonia and in a critical state. A trained doctor from Hutchinson was summoned Tuesday to provide care, and news of her condition has anxious friends watching for improvement.

Suspect Arrested in Knowles for Theft of Tire Cane

Olly Bieharaton was arrested last week by Deputy Sheriff Chase Wells in Knowles for stealing a tire cane. He had a preliminary hearing before Justice Meese on Saturday and was bound over to the District Court. He remains at the county jail pending bond.

Birthday Surprise for Miss Orvete Quinn at party

Miss Orvete Quinn received a birthday surprise party hosted by her friends Wednesday night. A large number of youths attended and enjoyed the celebration. H B Larson of Bald, Oklahoma, a traveling inspector for Union Central Life Insurance Company, was in Beaver on business for Renfrew Treatment Co. of Woodward. Mrs. Rachel Bogun lies seriously ill at her daughter’s home, Ji D Peckham, with family by her side and hopes for a possible recovery.

Beaver City Seeks Annexation via Santa Fe Rail Extension

Beaver City Oklahoma plans to annex fifty square miles of prime farming land to Wichita by extending the Santa Fe Englewood line. J H L Griffith of Beaver City discussed the proposal in Wichita with businessmen, arguing the valley’s soils and crops require a rail link to reach markets. Griffith noted natural barriers hinder local commerce and urged a Beaver County to Beaver City branch from Ode to Beaver City to connect with Wichita.
