Prairie Fire Threat Near Town During High Winds

A prairie fire swept southwest of town on Wednesday noon as wind aided spread toward Beaver. Local men with teams and plows halted the flames, preventing greater damage. The fire began at G Streuli’s farm on Bix Mile, where attempts to bore off a septic line sparked the blaze and sent flames toward the river.

Mrs Ia Wheaton arrived Sunday from Rok Ileus to be with her sister Mrs Mary Beaver who lay very ill with pneumonia and died Monday morning. Wheaton stayed at Blue Mulled for several days as plans for the funeral were arranged.
